The Fresno Planning Commission is back at full force. Mayor Ashley Swearengin’s pick of Kathy Bray was approved by the city council last Thursday.

Bray has owned Denham Resources, a job placement agency, for the 46 years according her city application. On Denham’s website, Bray is listed as company president, having started in 1975 after graduating from Fresno State.

When asked to explain her interest for the job in her application, she replied “I have long been concerned about the level of poverty in the Fresno area and see a direct connection between the vitality of our community and planning [sic] so have been involved in efforts to promote good planning.”

The council approved Bray’s appointment unanimously as part of its consent calendar. Commissioners are nominated by the Mayor and must be approved by council.

Bray replaces Luisa Medina, who resigned last month. Her term runs through Jun 30, 2017.

Other members of the Planning Commission include: Serop Torossian (chairman), Rojelio Vasquez (vice chair), Cary Catalano, Lawrence Garcia, Jaime Holt and Randy Reed.
